This complete starter course is designed as an introduction to basic painting techniques. Over 10 weeks you will be given the opportunity to explore everything from traditional materials such as watercolour, water-based pencils and acrylics to more unconventional material techniques such as ink and bleach, latex resist, marbling, creating impasto effects and turning a fineliner into a paintbrush.

These two-hour workshops will take place in our specialist art studios, and all materials are included! No experience is necessary as these workshops are tailored for complete beginners, however if you have previous experience in a technique we are happy to teach more advanced methods to help you build upon existing skills. Each workshop costs £30 per person, however we are able to offer a discount of £10 per person if two different workshops are booked for the same day! From Glassmaking to weaving, pottery to embroidery we have a workshop to suit every interest. These workshops have been specifically tailored with the WI in mind and can be booked by both individual WI members and groups of up to 12 people at a time. Tea and coffee will be provided and there is also a canteen on site serving hot meals if you would like to stop for lunch between morning and afternoon sessions.
