3. Beazley Designs of the Year Exhibition at the Design Museum, London

2/6 The Design Museum explores the Protest Banner Lending Library - a #Graphics nominee for this year's #BeazleyDesignsoftheYear ⠀ ⠀ Designed by Aram Han Sifuentes in collaboration with Verónica Casado Hernández, Ishita Dharap and Tabitha Anne Kunkes ⠀ ⠀ The Protest Banner Lending Library provides a communal space where people can see, talk and sense solidarity. Second, the concept of a library holding banners that will be used and re-used recognises there are no quick fixes to the political struggles we face today. In an era of easy ‘clicktivism’, the very durability of a textile banner signals a commitment to sustained resistance and movement-building. Third, the project acknowledges that the democratic right to protest is unequal. For undocumented people, for example, the consequences of arrest can be too high to take part. 5. Rachel Whiteread Exhibition at Tate Britain, London

Rachel Whiteread, Stairs 2003, Tate collection Works on paper have long been a significant, though seldom seen, aspect of Whiteread’s practice. The artist has referred to them as enabling her to work through her ideas, but they are a unique and separate part of her practice. 15. Jean-Michel Basquiat Exhibition

Lucky Strike was registered in 1871 as an American chewing tobacco. When Lucky Strike cigarettes were launched in 1916, their pack borrowed the red circle, ringed by gold and green, from the original tins. Raymond Loewy, designer of the Shell, TWA and SPAR logos, accepted a $50,000 wager that he could not improve this design. He changed the packet to white and placed the red medallion logo on the front and back, moving the text to the side panel. This increased brand visibility – and sales.
