Pattern Cutting & Garment Construction FOR INTERMEDIATES
Through this 10 week course you will gain further knowledge in pattern cutting and how to develop your ideas into unique patterns and constructed garments.
Although the emphasis is on womenswear design and working to personal measurements, men are also welcome and can work to the measurements of a tailor's mannequin.
Course fees include sewing materials such as threads, calico for toiles and pattern cutting paper. The instructor will provide advice for purchasing appropriate fabrics, buttons and other notions for final garment.
The course will cover to following topics:
Grown on collars, revere and shawl, and suitable facings.
Grown on sleeves, raglan and kimono.
Front band and button openings.
Sleeveless style amendments.
Linings, and provision for movement.
Production of a draft and pattern for a style designed by yourself.
There may be the possibility to explore trousers if all of the above has been covered and there is still time towards the end of the course.
